My Experience with Osprey 3mm Source Wetsuit NECO
I’ve been using the Osprey 3mm Source Wetsuit NECO throughout 2025, and it’s honestly become my go-to for cold-water sessions. From spring swims to summer adventures, it’s allowed me to spend way more time in the water than I ever could before. My only regret? Not having it with me for that brutal New Year’s Day dip on January 1st – something I’m definitely sorting out for next year.
Most recently, I packed it for a trip to the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, where I spent hours in the sea teaching my youngest to bodyboard. The wetsuit kept me warm and comfortable the whole time, which made what could have been a teeth-chattering experience actually enjoyable for both of us.
The fit is pretty snug – I wear a small and found the neck particularly tight when first getting into it – but once it’s on, it feels like a second skin and you quickly adjust to it. What I really appreciate is the chest-zip design instead of the traditional back zip. You pull the hood over your head and fasten it across the chest, with an elastic toggle over the shoulder for extra security. This makes getting in and out so much easier without needing help, which is a real win for me.
I’m also a fan of the sleek look with those subtle gold accents, but what really matters is its eco credentials. The Neco Source is made with limestone-based neoprene, 86% recycled nylon, and water-based glue instead of harsh chemicals, making it a more sustainable choice that doesn’t compromise on performance.
The 3/2mm thickness strikes that perfect balance between warmth and flexibility – enough insulation for long sessions while still giving you a full range of movement. The flatlock seams and super-stretch collar help reduce chafing and keep water out, while thoughtful details like the wind-resistant mesh chest panel and built-in key loop show the care that’s gone into the design.
Overall, the Neco Source combines comfort, performance, and sustainability in a way that really stands out. After a full year of regular use, it’s been a complete winner and definitely the wetsuit I’ll be relying on for many cold-water sessions to come.
